CurbTask Terms of Service
Last updated October 29, 2026.
These terms are an agreement between you and HIKEPILOT LLC, which operates CurbTask (“CurbTask”, “we”, “us”). They cover curbtask.com and the CurbTask app. By creating an account or booking a task you agree to these terms, our Privacy notice and our content rules. If you work through CurbTask, the Worker Agreement also applies to you.
1. What CurbTask is
CurbTask is a local marketplace for small everyday tasks in Midwood and nearby neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York. Customers request tasks; independent workers choose whether to take them. CurbTask reviews requests, prices them, offers them to approved workers, handles messages and payments, and helps when something goes wrong.
Workers are independent contractors, not CurbTask employees or agents. We review each worker before they can take jobs (identity, age 18 or older and safety training), but each worker is responsible for how they do the work.
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 and able to agree to these terms. Give accurate details, keep your password private and tell us if you think someone else used your account. You are responsible for what happens in your account. You can sign in with email, Google or Apple. One account per person.
3. Requests and quotes
Describe the task, the address and anything the worker needs to know. We may ask questions, and we may use automated tools (including AI) to help suggest the scope and price; a person can review it. We then send a quote with the price, the agreed work and a work window of up to two days. A quote has an approval deadline; after that it can no longer be approved and we can send a new one.
The quoted price covers the agreed work. Buying items for you or other expenses need a separate agreement first. If the work needs to change, we send a revised quote for you to approve. We may decline any request.
4. Payments, card holds and charges
Payments are by card through Stripe. CurbTask never sees your full card number. When you approve a quote you save a card, and we place a hold for the quoted price about 3 days before the job (right away if the job is sooner). A hold reserves the money; it is not a charge.
We charge the held amount only after the work is done: when the worker marks the job finished with a proof photo, or when our team confirms it was done. If no worker is assigned by the start time, we release the hold and you are not charged. Later bookings use your saved card unless you change or remove it in Payments & cards.
5. Tips
After a job is done you can add an optional tip ($1 to $100, and no more than the job price). All of the tip goes to your worker; CurbTask covers the card fee. A tip is charged right away, either to your saved card or through Stripe Checkout, and is separate from the job’s charge.
6. Cancellations and refunds
You can cancel a task in the app. Today there is no cancellation fee, and you are not charged for a canceled task. Full details, including refunds after a charge, are in our Cancellation and refund policy.
7. Acceptable tasks and conduct
Request only legal, safe tasks that you have the right to ask for at that address: things like taking bins to the curb, moving plants, dropping off returns or picking up dry cleaning. Do not request work that needs a licensed professional, involves hazardous materials, weapons, drugs, cash or other high-value items, or puts anyone at risk.
Everything you share through CurbTask must follow our content rules:
- Share only truthful, service-related content you have permission to share.
- No sexual content, child exploitation, graphic violence, threats, harassment, hate, scams, illegal activity, spam, impersonation or exposing someone else's private information.
- Report messages, conversations or AI responses in the app. Block another task participant's messages without canceling your booking.
- CurbTask reviews reports and may restrict accounts or content that violates these rules. Contact support for help with active bookings.
Treat workers and our team with respect, give accurate instructions and safe access, and keep pets and hazards away from the work area. Please book and pay through CurbTask for work you find through CurbTask.
8. Photos and messages
Workers take proof photos to show the work was done, and you may share photos and messages about a task. You keep ownership of what you share; you allow CurbTask, the assigned worker and our team to use it to provide, check and support the service, as described in the Privacy notice.
Messages between you and your worker are not private from CurbTask: authorized CurbTask staff can read them to help with your service, handle problems and disputes, and keep everyone safe, and every such view is recorded. Do not share card numbers, passwords or other information you would not want CurbTask to see.
9. Problems with a task
If something went wrong, contact support in the app (or by email) within 7 days of the job, with photos if you can. We will look at the job’s photos, messages and the worker’s report and work with you on a fair fix, such as a refund. See the Cancellation and refund policy.
10. Our responsibility
We work hard to keep CurbTask reliable and safe, but we provide it “as is”. We cannot promise that a worker will always be available, that the service will never be interrupted, or that every task will be done perfectly. Workers are responsible for their own work and conduct.
To the fullest extent the law allows, CurbTask is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim about a task is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for that task or $100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, or your rights as a consumer under New York law.
11. Disputes and governing law
Please contact us first at support@curbtask.com so we can try to resolve any disagreement informally within 30 days. If we cannot, either of us may bring the dispute in small claims court, or in the state or federal courts located in Kings County, New York. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
12. Ending your account
You can stop using CurbTask at any time and ask us to delete your account from Account & privacy (see account deletion). We may suspend or close an account, or cancel a task, to protect people, prevent fraud or abuse, or when someone breaks these terms or the content rules. Open bookings, payments and refunds are settled first.
13. SMS / text messages
Program. If you turn on text messages in Settings › Text messages (enter your mobile number, tick the box and choose “Save text settings”), CurbTask, operated by HIKEPILOT LLC, sends you text messages about your bookings and your account: confirmations, changes to a booking, a card that needs attention, and similar service notices. We do not send marketing or promotional texts, and texts are never a condition of using CurbTask.
Frequency. A few texts per booking.
Cost. Msg & data rates may apply. CurbTask does not charge for texts; your mobile carrier may.
Stop and help. Reply STOP at any time to stop texts (CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE and similar words also work). Reply START to turn them back on. Reply HELP for help, or write to support@curbtask.com. You can also untick the box in Settings › Text messages. After you stop you get one confirmation and nothing else.
Carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed, so important booking information is always also in the app.
Privacy. Your mobile number and your text consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing. See the Privacy notice.
14. Changes and contact
We may update these terms. The date above shows the latest version; for important changes we will tell you by email or in the app before they apply. Questions: support@curbtask.com or support in the app.
